Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy May be the Future of the Healing Arts

The practice of chiropractic is based on the body's innate intelligence to heal itself. Chiropractors help the body heal by restoring function and mobility, which unlocks the body's ability to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.

When we can no longer support the body enough to allow pain free function due to injury or other damage (such as osteoarthritis), we are challenged to find a path forward that fits with our chiropractic practice of helping the body naturally.

In the past, the only alternative was to refer patients for drugs or surgery.

Now, we can offer Stem Cell Therapy, which is completely in harmony with the basic tenets of chiropractic care but reaches beyond what we were able to offer in the past.  Regenerative Medicine through Stem Cell therapy is, to me, the logical extension of my practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic.

Regenerative Medicine Q & A

What Is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative Medicine enhances nature's inherent ability to heal. We have all seen this work in our own bodies. If you cut yourself, you need only keep the injury clean and your body will heal itself.

Regenerative Medicine enhances your body's own healing ability to repair degeneration without the use of drugs or surgery.

What are Stem Cells?

Stem Cells are the body's regenerative mechanism and we all have them. In your adult body, Stem Cells are responsible for repairing and regenerating tissue. Their most important role is to secrete biomarkers, also known as trophic factors, that tell the body?s other cells to repair and regenerate.

When we are born, stem cells are vital in our growth and regenerative processes. At birth, stem cells comprise one in 10,000 of the cells in our bodies. As we age, the proportion of stem cells declines. By the time we reach age 50, only one in 400,000 cells are stem cells available to regenerate and repair muscle, cartilage and tendons. Hence, as we age, our bodies take longer to repair and recover.
